Stacey Sutton Quoted In Crain’s Chicago Business On Store Closings In Minority Neighborhoods

Comments from Stacey Sutton,  UIC assistant professor of urban planning and policy, are included in a Crain’s Chicago Business article looking at the current and potential future impact of COVID and civil unrest on retail landlords and store owners, particularly on the city’s South and West Sides. Sutton tells Crain’s that store closings will happen disproportionately in lower-income minority neighborhoods as investors may be less inclined to back real estate acquisitions and developments in these areas following the uprisings. "The pandemic just becomes a veil behind which all of this can happen," she says. https://bit.ly/3hfip89 (subscription required)
